Chocolate Chip Cookies
Chocolate Chip Cookies

Simple and fuss free recipe with few ingredients for Gooey and crunchy chocolate treat for all seasons and moods!

It’s been 5 months that I have shifted to my new house. And, believe it or not, we’re still fixing things every weekend. It’s becoming more punishing with Delhi turning into a furnace. However, taking a hiatus from looking after plumbers and mechanics and also shrugging off procrastination, I did some baking last week.

I decided to make chocolate chip cookies, well because who doesn’t like chocolate cookies! Actually, I like all kinds of cookies – Ginger, Peanut Butter (Read the Recipe),  Whole Wheat, Caramel, Jim-Jam or Oats – I love them in all sizes and flavours.

As for this recipe, it’s one of my favourite ones for Chocolate Chip Cookies. I learnt it while working with a German Chef at Ethiopian Cultural Centre. I fell in love with this recipe because the chef insisted we use chunky big pieces of chocolate in it, instead of tiny chocolate chips. The final cookie had these melted warm chocolatey parts, which were so gooey. With perfect balance of crunchy cookie texture and gooey dark melted chocolate, this cookie was everything I could ask for.

Another highlight of this recipe is that you don’t require too many ingredients. It’s simple and fuss free. Just cream your butter – sugar well and gently rub in your dry ingredients. You can’t go wrong.

Make sure you leave enough gap between the cookie dough (when you spread them on the baking tray) so that they don’t stick with each other while baking.

I am glad I made these, as it was a welcome break from finding nails and bolts in dusty cartons. It was like a therapy session that ended with a delicious chocolatey treat in the end. Now, who wouldn’t want that?

Well as the legend goes, chocolate fixes everything.

Flour 2 cups
Butter 1 Cup
Brown Sugar 1 Cup
Baking Soda 1 TSP
Chocolate Chip 1 Cup

  • Preheat the oven at 120 Degree Celsius.
  • In a bowl, beat Brown Sugar and butter together until the sugar is completely dissolved. This process is called Creaming Method.
  • Sift flour and add baking soda into it, keep it aside.
  • Take your chocolate compound and break it into small pieces or just use ready chocolate chips. Add chocolate chips and dry ingredients and mix the two together.
  • Cover the dough in a cling wrap. Keep it to rest for minimum 30 minutes.
  • Make small round shape balls in equal size and place them on baking tray (greased or covered with parchment paper).
  • Bake for 15 minutes and keep them to cool on a cooling rack.
  • Serve with caramel sauce or milk or maybe just as it is, because they’re delicious.
