Way back in 2012, a friend of mine and I met Michelangelo at the entrance of Hauz Khas Village. He was standing there with his little ice cream truck. That’s how I had my first scoop of ice cream from Gelato Roma.

Like every Italian I know, Michelangelo was passionate about gelatos. He missed the real taste of it so much, that he and his two Italian friends decided to make their own ice creams in Delhi. They decided to only use natural products to make their favourite flavours of ice creams. But it was only Michelangelo, who looked after the recipes and preparations.

Mango, Pistachio, Coconut, Bailey’s, Swiss Chocolate, Lime, Lemon, Ananas and many such delicious ice creams were prepared under his careful supervision. And soon enough, his cute little gelato truck was ready and so was Delhi to savour his delightful ice creams.

Unfortunately, harassed by authorities, he had to move to a small kiosk in Hauz Khas Village. However, the quality and service at Gelato Roma, was never compromised.

The ice creams are still as smooth and creamy and yet you get to taste the freshness of it.  The Lemon ice cream tastes just like lemon and Irish Bailey just like how it should. The ice creams don’t make you feel heavy or drowsy and the taste remains in your mouth long after you are finished eating it.

At Gelato Roma, they make their own fresh cones right in front of you, without any dramatic mix of toppings. So, you get to enjoy the real, simple taste of ice cream.

The ice creams are priced reasonably between Rs.100-200 per scoop, depending on the flavour.

Now a veteran in the village, Gelato Roma is still as popular amongst its patrons. They have another outlet in Nehru Place as well.

Although, Michelangelo returned to Italy two years back, he left behind a wonderful legacy and the sweet taste of his country, in Gelato Roma.
